Dal 2004 ad oggi il Centro SMAArt ha svolto numerose ricerche interdisciplinari che hanno portato a numerose pubblicazioni nella letteratura scientifica internazionale. I progetti di maggior rilievo svolti in questo periodo sono stati il progetto EU-ARTECH (Acces, Research and Technology for the conservation of the European Cultural Hertage) CHARISMA (Cultural Heritage Advanced Research Infrastructures: Synergy for a Multidisciplinary Approach to Conservation. FP7 - 228330), IPERION-CH (Integrated Platform for the European Research Infrastructure on Culture Heritage, H2020), IPERION-HS (Integrated Platform for the European Research Infrastructure on Culture Heritage, H2020-INFRAIA-2018-2020) .
